Between December 2008 and January 2009, ten Baltimore City property owners were cited and fined for properties out of compliance with lead risk reduction standards, according to a Maryland Department of the Environment press release. This affected a total of 79 properties, and resulted in over $150,000 in fines. We applaud Secretary Shari T. Wilson and her staff for making a difference in Baltimore City, and across the state of Maryland. No child should have to suffer the effects of lead paint poisoning.
