Councilwoman Helen Holton plead no contest to the charge of accepting money from two Baltimore developers, in violation of campaign finance law.  Holton accepted money from Ronald Lipscomb and John Paterakis to pay for a campaign poll.  In exchange for her plea, she will keep her City Council seat and pay a $2500 fine.  She may also lose her CPA license, and she has been removed as the Chair of the City’s Taxation, Finance, and Economic Development Committee.

Lipscomb, who plead guilty for his part of the scheme, received a $25,000 fine and three years probation before judgment.  Paterakis received the same fine and probationary term.
