From the HABC press release:
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake attended the groundbreaking for the first phase of a major redevelopment initiative in Baltimore’s Barclay/ Old Goucher neighborhood. The $85 million dollar redevelopment plan for the neighborhood was developed by community residents, neighborhood organizations, local developers, neighborhood social service providers, and city officials, in collaboration with urban/housing developer Telesis Corporation. The redevelopment plan will provide a range of housing opportunities including market rate and affordable housing, offered both for sale and for rent, in addition to new parks and community facilities and services including a Youth Safe Haven.

We hope the developer and the City make sure this redevelopment project benefits the community’s residents above all — they deserve it. This has been a long time coming, and we’re excited to see the changes. Hopefully in a few years, the neighborhood will no longer look like this.
